It is said that at Halloween each year, the graveyard at Gwyddelwern is haunted by the ghosts of all the parsons that have ever served the community there. It was believed that if an unmarried person was to visit the graveyard at midnight, the name of their destined spouse would be made known to them by the spirits there. It was a popular myth throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, especially with young ladies, and even in these more modern times, there have been stories of people visiting the graveyard in search of supernatural wisdom.
